About Us

One can count many international websites and magazines on astronomy. Astronomy enthusiasts the Philippines tend to follow these websites for the latest astronomy news and updates, as well as for getting observational tips and astrophotography techniques.

These websites also tell us about upcoming astronomical events, including their circumstances and how to observe them.

One problem for Filipinos is that these astronomy websites mostly cater to an American or European audience, and the events they cover, e.g., eclipses, may not be visible in the Philippines, and conversely, may lack coverage for events visible in the Philippines but may not be visible in the West. They often provide us with observation tools such as starmaps which are made for higher latitudes, and which may not work the same way for users in the Philippines.

Thus, we hope to cater to a Philippine audience by providing astronomical information and tools that are of value to local astronomy enthusiasts that may not be available from international sources.

As this website grows, we hope for it to become responsive to the evolving needs of astronomy enthusiasts based in the Philippines
